Daily Activities at Hollies Nursery

The timetable below indicates a typical day for children aged 1-5 years:
Breakfast is served between 8am-9am.

Children engage in free and structured play sessions with their key workers throughout the morning within each of the base rooms and engage in energetic play in the nursery garden and soft play room.

Structured activities in both English and Welsh are organised to meet the individual needs and requirements of each child. Staff provide support and guidance when needed and constantly offer praise and encouragement in order to raise the self-esteem and confidence of each individual child.

Children receive a mid-morning snack prior to lunch being served from 11.00am-12.45pm.

A range of tabletop activities are implemented with older children whilst younger children are settled for a nap between 11.30pm-1.30pm.

During the afternoon session all children partake in a range of free/structured activities within their key working groups. Opportunities are given for the children to explore the nursery garden.

Children receive a mid-afternoon snack and high tea is served between 3.00pm-4.30pm.

A combination of both free and structured activities continue until the children are collected at the end of the day.

Bilingual members of staff share their expertise of the Welsh language with both children and colleagues in the nursery environment. We aim to promote the medium of Welsh through the use of bilingual wall displays and discussion times. A Welsh timetable is implemented each day and focuses on flash cards, Welsh phrases, story time and singing. Structured activities and I.T. sessions are also planned to ensure that children have access to a wide range of opportunities aimed at promoting the Welsh language.
